Do Israelis Need to Know About the Struggle for Aliyah from the Soviet Union?
For many years, the State of Israel has secretly led the international struggle for the right of Jews from the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe to immigrate to Israel. However, this important chapter in the history of the Jewish state and the Jewish people has been forgotten. The following paper examines the importance of restoring the memory of the struggle in the national discourse in Israel and presents the steps taken by ‘Nativ’ to achieve this goal.
